World No. 83 Camila Osorio advanced to the semifinals of the Parma Open after a strong victory over rising Czech star Dominika Salkova, winning 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.

Osorio controlled the match from the baseline with her trademark movement and consistency, extending rallies and finding the perfect balance between defense and aggression. The Colombian repeatedly forced Salkova into difficult positions by constructing points with patience before stepping forward to finish rallies.

Speaking after the match, Osorio explained to me that her success on clay comes from growing up in Colombia, where clay court tennis is extremely popular. She shared that one of the first lessons she learned as a young player was the importance of footwork and tactical point construction on the surface.

Osorio noted that strong movement and smart decision making on clay can help neutralize the power of bigger opponents. Those qualities were on full display during her quarterfinal performance as she dictated the rhythm of the match and never allowed Salkova to settle into her aggressive baseline game.

With the victory, Osorio reaches her second semifinal of the season and continues to build momentum during the clay court swing. Next, Osorio will face either Barbora Krejcikova or Viktorija Golubic in the Parma semifinals.
